Buying lighting for a Ford Maverick
Lighting is the category most affected by the 2025 refresh. Ford restyled the Maverick's entire front end for 2025 — new fascia, new grille, updated headlights — so front lighting parts split hard by model year. Rear and auxiliary lighting is far more forgiving. Know your year before you shop the front of the truck.
Bulbs versus housings
There are two very different purchases hiding under "LED headlights." A bulb swap drops an LED emitter into the factory housing: cheap, quick, reversible. A housing replacement swaps the entire assembly for one designed around an LED source. The second costs more and takes longer, but it is the one that reliably produces a clean, legal beam pattern.
That distinction matters because a reflector housing engineered around a halogen filament does not necessarily focus an LED emitter correctly. A poorly matched bulb can be brighter to your eye and worse on the road — more glare for oncoming drivers, less usable light where you need it. If your truck has projector housings, LED bulbs behave much more predictably.
Where lighting upgrades actually pay off
Beyond headlights, the highest-value lighting additions on a compact truck are the practical ones: bed lighting so you can find gear after dark, reverse lighting bright enough to back a trailer, and interior lighting that makes the cab usable. These are inexpensive, mostly plug-in, and unaffected by the 2025 front-end split.
If you are adding a light bar or auxiliary pods, remember that auxiliary off-road lighting is generally not legal for on-road use. Wire it through a proper switched, fused circuit, and aim it before you need it.
